Leadership & Board of Directors
Recognized as a 501c3 nonprofit in 1978, the Santa Cruz Hostel Society is guided by a volunteer Board of Directors and supported by a dedicated staff team committed to affordable travel, cultural exchange, and community building. Together, they help steward our historic nonprofit hostel and ensure it remains a welcoming place for travelers and locals alike.
The Santa Cruz Hostel Society exists to foster affordable travel, cultural exchange, and community connection. We believe hostels play a unique role in bringing people together across cultures, backgrounds, and generations.
Unlike a traditional hotel, a hostel creates opportunities for meaningful interaction. Through shared kitchens, common spaces, community events, and dormitories, guests connect with one another, exchange ideas, and gain new perspectives. These everyday interactions help build understanding, acceptance, and friendships that often last long after a trip has ended.
Guided by this mission, our Board of Directors and staff work to ensure the Santa Cruz Hostel remains a welcoming, inclusive space for travelers and locals alike.
